Born in Glasgow in 1978, Calum McIntyre has been hitting things since he was given a xylophone for his first Christmas. With piano, brass, voice and percussion lessons from an early age he was encouraged to play music all through childhood and hasn’t stopped since. Calum studied orchestral percussion at the Ian Tomlin School of Music, Napier University where he gained a bachelor of music in 2004. Since graduating he has worked as a session musician in central Scotland working in the studio and on stage with The Banana Sessions, The Horndog Brass Band, Éamonn Coyne & Kris Drever and Hidden Orchestra to name a few. Performances include appearances at Celtic Connections, Bestival and Glastonbury festivals as well as live television and radio broadcasts for the BBC. Calum is based in Beauly in the Highlands of Scotland and is currently touring with NoFit State Circus.
